Perfectly boxed and hot favourite Bobby Boucheau ($1.80) led throughout to win the Group 1 Macro Meats Albion Park Gold Cup on Thursday night.

He had already won the Sandown Cup and Stayers Cup at The Meadows.
Angela’s father Kel Greenough has been in the north with Bobby Boucheau since he ran second to Blue Lorian in his heat last week and admitted the dog went into the final without the benefit of a hard gallop between heat and final.
“He pulled up with a sprained wrist after the heat run,” said Kel who stayed all week with Glenda and John Dart on the Northern Rivers of NSW. “I could have risked galloping him but I decided not to.
”He went into the race fresh and that’s probably why he was getting a bit tired at the finish.”
Bobby Boucheau has now won 15 of his 26 starts. He will be back at Albion Park in two weeks as the first dog invited into the Super Stayers, a four-dog invitation.
Greenough bought Bobby Boucheau “cheaply” when he was 20 months old after he watched him trial at Sandown from breeder and owner Ray Forbes.
“I liked his final section,” said Kel. “I bought him with the hope he could pay for himself.”
The dog took his earnings to $255,000 with Thursday night’s Group 1 victory.
Kel gave the dog to his daughter Angela.
“She’d just had a baby and had left her job so she was looking for something to do,” said Kel. “She decided to come up and helps up with the dogs. She’d never had any interest in dogs before that.
“We gave her this dog as the first greyhound she has raced.”
Bobby Boucheau has also run the 600m and 720m track records at Sandown.
Bobby Boucheau probably caused a first turn melee when he was charging across from his eight box looking for the early lead. Pillow Torque fell and Blue Lorian was badly interfered with.
Blue Lorian injured a shoulder and had a laceration across his metacarpals that needed stitching.
After the placed runners the field finished in the following order 4th Lady Arko ($6.90), 5th Dash Of Shiraz ($27.50), 6th Elliot Tee ($48.40) 7th Blue Lorian ($6.00) FTF and Pillow Torque ($8.40) Fell.
Bobby Boucheau is Black dog whelped May ’08 he is by Bombastic Shiraz from Dallas Gypsy (EJ’s Douglas x Advert). The Group 1 Gold Cup is his third after he won Group 1 Macro Meats Super Stayers in March and the Sandown Cup in May it took his record to 27 starts for 16 wins and six placings and prizemoney earnings of $255,624. He is raced and trained by Angela Jackson at Pearcedale in Victoria.
